There are generally two types of water pumps. Different in design and application they each basically serve the same purpose, which is to move water from point A to point B.
The first type of pump is the centrifugal design. This type uses a rotating impeller to draw water into the pump and pressurize the discharge flow. Common types include standard above ground and submersible models.
Read the Full StoryWater filtration for household use is commonly installed when rainwater tanks are in use or the supply water quality is not quite satisfactory. Sediment material and colour in the water from downpipes may affect the taste and odour of the water and can be filtered using a simple inline filter system between rainwater tank pump and the house. Most council supply water is purified for human consumption (drinking water) but water purification may also be designed for a variety of other purposes, including meeting the requirements of medical, pharmacology, chemical and industrial applications.
Read the Full StoryWater purification is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, materials, and biological contaminants from raw water. The goal is to produce water fit for a specific purpose. Most water is purified for human consumption (drinking water) but water purification may also be designed for a variety of other purposes, including meeting the requirements of medical, pharmacology, chemical and industrial applications.
Read the Full StorySprinklers that spray in a fixed pattern are generally called sprays or spray heads. Sprays are not usually designed to operate at pressures above 30 lbf/in² (200 kPa)(30psi "Pounds per square inch"), due to misting problems that may develop.
Higher pressure sprinklers that rotate around themselves are driven by a ball drive, gear drive, or impact mechanism (impact sprinklers). These can be designed to rotate in a full or partial circle.
Read the Full StoryUV systems are designed to protect potable drinking water sources from occasional intrusion of microbiological contamination. High doses of ultra violet light energy at a wavelength of 254 nanometers controls microbes by disabling their reproductive process. This is a positive alternative to using environmentally harmful chemicals.

There are many different types of pipes and fittings available. It is important to select the correct pipe and fittings to suit the installation requirements.
The pipe/fittings and pressure ratings determine how and where items should be used. Some applications require pressure rated items, such as domestic and commercial/industrial installations.
Home irrigation and gardening solutions may only require low-density pipes and fittings installed.

Metric compression fittings are generally rated to 1600kPA
Rural compression fittings are generally rated to Australian Rural Class-B (approx 660kPA)
This pipe is a rigid white plastic pipe commonly used for domestic plumbing, water tanks, pool installations etc. The pipe is manufactured in different classes (wall thicknesses). PVC stands for Polyvinyl Chloride.
DWV pipe and fittings are generally light grey in colour. The systems allow flow of water and sewage through waste pipes by gravity down to drains or pits. It is critical that a downward slope be maintained throughout. These pipe systems are usually vented. Vents provide a means to release sewer gases outside instead of inside the house.
PVC is widely accepted as the preferred pipe for stormwater applications. It has the advantages of cost effectiveness, resistance to root penetration, easy to handle and install, and proven performance.
